Job Description - Junior Construction Modeler
JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Construction Modeler is responsible for supporting the design team by creating detailed technical drawings and plans for construction, manufacturing, and engineering projects. Working under the supervision of senior construction modellers and engineers, they will convert conceptual designs into precise technical drawings using draughting software such as Tekla, AutoCAD or similar. They will assist in ensuring that designs meet industry standards and project specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include, but not limited to:
- Technical Draughting:
- Develop and produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings based on conceptual sketches and specifications provided by engineers or senior construction modelers.
- Update and revise drawings based on feedback and changes from project engineers or clients.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize draughting software such as Tekla, AutoCAD or similar tools to create accurate representations of engineering designs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of draughting tools and software advancements.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with the engineering team to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Assist Senior Construction Modelers and Project Engineers in preparing design layouts and technical documentation.
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure that all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and client specifications.
- Adhere to all local and international regulations concerning technical drawing and design.
- File Management & Documentation:
- Organize and maintain drawing files, ensuring that all design revisions are properly recorded and saved in an orderly manner.
- Assist in preparing documentation packages for client reviews and approvals.
- Site Visits (Occasional):
- Accompany senior engineers or construction modelers to project sites to gather information or verify measurements for accuracy in the drawings.
- Quality Assurance:
- Review drawings for accuracy and completeness before submission for approval.
- Ensure that all design work meets the required quality standards and deadlines.
- Learning & Development:
- Stay up to date with new draughting techniques, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Participate in training sessions or workshops to further develop technical skills.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Diploma, certificate or any other applicable qualification in Draughting, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in Tekla, AutoCAD or other draughting software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

- Experience with handling of 3D scans and scanning equipment, as well as the ability to interface scanning data within CAD software would be advantageous.
- Exposure and familiarity with one or more of the following:
- Structural engineering
- Mechanical (Piping) engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Process engineering
EXPERIENCE:
0-2 years of experience in draughting or a similar role (internship experience can be included).
